Proposal: Testnet Round On Core

WHAT

This proposal seeks to initiate another round of testnet testing on Core Chain. The first rounds, known as the Softernet, attracted over 14k users through 7 events on various chains. With Soft Protocol contracts now deployed on Core, it’s time for the community to battle test them in this new environment.

Participants can:

  1. Visit the Core faucet to get testnet $CORE.
  2. Connect their wallet and register.
  3. ‘Purchase’ testnet tokens in a sale flow.
  4. Claim tokens from the distribution flow.
  5. Fill out a feedback form.

If there’s strong community support, an additional airdrop could be connected to this event.

WHY

This proposal is important for several reasons:

  • Community Engagement: Building on the success of the Softernet, this new testnet round will keep the community engaged and active.
  • Ecosystem Growth: Core has a robust community and ecosystem, and currently lacks a trustless, onchain solution for fundraising and distributions. Soft Protocol can fill this gap.
  • Real-world Testing: This round of testing will ensure that the contracts are battle-tested and ready for mainnet deployment, maintaining a commitment to security and reliability.

HOW

Execution details for this proposal:

  1. Preparation: Set up the necessary infrastructure on Core, including access to the Core faucet and the Soft Protocol testnet environment.
  2. Communication: Announce the event through all official channels, including Discord, Twitter, and the Soft DAO forum.
  3. Implementation:
  • Direct participants to obtain testnet $CORE from the Core faucet.
  • Provide instructions to connect wallets and register for the testnet.
  • Facilitate the ‘purchase’ of testnet tokens and guide participants through the claim process.
  • Collect feedback via a structured form to gather insights and improvements.
  1. Incentivization: Consider offering an airdrop for participants who complete all steps and provide valuable feedback.

Funding: No additional funding is required at this stage, as the infrastructure and contracts are already deployed. The airdrop, if implemented, will be managed with existing resources.
